What are the requirements for a direct parental placement adoption in Montana?

A direct parental placement adoption is an adoption in which the birth parent gives up her parental rights and consents to the adoption by adoptive parents that she has personally selected. The adoptive parents may live in Montana or another state that allows direct parental placement.  There are additional legal requirements that must be met if the adoptive parents live out of state.

Montana state law has several requirements that must be met before the adoption will be approved, including birth mother counseling, a pre-placement evaluation and a post-placement evaluation.

If you are the birth mother or the prospective adoptive parents of a child who lives in Montana, you should contact Matrium Law Group at (406) 552-7814 to ensure that your adoption goes smoothly and that all of the legal requirements are met.
